Scoping Review of Heating, Ventilation, and Cooiling Systems
Heating, ventilation myairtoday.com, and cooiling (HVAC) systems are vital components of homes, commercial buildings, and hospitals. They control indoor temperatures, humidity levels, and air quality by using fresh air from the outside. They also help prevent energy waste and lower energy bills. HVAC engineers typically are ASHRAE members and may also be certified locally. They should regularly change their air return filters. Another part of a HVAC system is an exhaust outlet. These outlets should be inspected annually.
In the scoping review, eleven publications were included. Seven were published since 2003. Six of these studies reported that HVAC systems reduced cardiac stress, increased vital signs, facilitated faster recovery, and enhanced physical activity. HVAC systems were also associated with a reduced hospital stay and mortality due to respiratory disease. In addition, a few publications focused on the use of HVAC in general wards and intensive care units. The authors of these studies report promising results.
This scoping review of HVAC systems provides important insights into the science behind the technology and its potential for improved health. While there is still a lack of systematic research, the results are encouraging and suggest that hospitals should use HVAC during hot weather. Further research is necessary to determine whether HVAC can mitigate the harmful effects of climate change. HVAC is also a viable adaptation measure, especially as the frequency of extreme weather events increases with climate change.
